An important phone call

Just took an important phone call, a necessary interruption to my reading of a Karl Barth critique. Ruby's tooth is out!

Ah yes. Well, that's a good read I understand.

Loved chapter 1 by Blocher, and will post some quotes soonish. Also v worthwhile chapter looking in a bit more detail at Rom 9-11 and Barth's exegesis there, by David Gibson.

I read a chapter by Blocher in 'Karl Barth and Evangelical Theology: convergences and divergences' (edited by Sung Wook Chung) It felt like the only passionate critique in the book. He finished his essay with an exclamation mark!

(contra Barth)
"Only if we let the teaching of the Scripture (sola et tota Scriptura) control, and mold, and vivify, our ideas about Jesus the Christ shall they help us more exactly to follow Christ himself!" (p135)

Sounds like something KB would endorse himself.

Blocher is a great friend and servant of the gospel. I thank God for him, and his exclamation marks!
