Hey Gordon- thanks for this, a really interesting example of tailoring the message to the audience you want to reach (ie that one guy who vets the captions!) I was sadly thrilled to note that my first impression when I saw his winning cartoon ("hmmm, that looks like a Jack Kirby monster", derived from many wasted hours reading old Fantastic Four reprints) was confirmed when I read on and discovered that it had actually been an "allusion" to a specific Jack Kirby picture. (Though since there are not that many fans of the old comics around these days, the rival New York Post was justified in accusing the New Yorker of plagiarism!)
