Ship of Fools book recommendations

The UK based bulletin board Ship of Fools can be a lot of fun if you confine yourself to the 'Heaven' section (unsuspecting Bible-believing readers, beware of other parts).

I started a thread called Books for 8 year olds and have been getting heaps of excellent suggestions.

What do you mean by "Bible-believing"? I consider myself to be a Bible-believing Christian.

Do you? I probably haven't made myself clear enough then. ;-)

I must admit that the term "Bible-believing" really frustrates me. It seems to operates as a term of exclusion rather than of anything else. It's kind of like the term "Freethinker" that some atheists use for themselves. You mean that if you're not an atheist you can't think for yourself?

Recently came across this comment from http://capezza.org/beautifulfeet/archives/2007/01/24/random-thoughts-62324-no-one-will-read-it-its-too-long/#comments that I found rather interesting:

"Evangelicals tend to think of themselves as Bible-believing Christians while thinking of liturgical Christians as those that don’t care about the Bible. But how much time is devoted to prayer and Scripture reading during worship in each of these church traditions. Go to one church of each kind, and bring a stopwatch. It’s pretty incredible to see how much more devoted to the Word liturgical churches are."
