Nup. Going to bed. There's going to be trouble tomorrow I tell you.

Still looking.

Found one.

I found one of those library books. Ruby had put it up the back of her shelves for safe keeping. I took a photo of it and will post a picture here when I can get the image linker working.

[edit: Yep, there's the sucker right there!]

Where is the other one? I'm going to have to take the girls' room apart piece by piece.

Recovering from cold

I'm in that twilight zone of illness recovery where the brain is starting to fire at quite a high speed, but the normal inhibitions on what gets typed don't fully seem to be in place. Like a car driving down a dirt road at Blackheath towards Pulpit Rock at "twice the speed of lead" (to quote the 2JJ surrealist adventure What's Rangoon to you is Grafton to me), except there's a bolt loose on the power steering.

This is a very dangerous time to sit me down in front of a computer screen.

Cold

It's the last day in May and I'm starting to get cold.

I'm going to have to seriously consider stopping getting out of bed in the morning.

Shame

I helped out with a Marriage Ministry course led by (Anglican) Ministry Training and Development here in Sydney.

Keith Condie reminded me of this marriage enriching verse:

If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame. (Proverbs 18:13)

Rats!

Turns out that some sushi manufacturer has been ignoring basic rules of hygiene for quite some time now. And it makes me wonder why the sushi at my regular place is so cheap. Is that really tofu? Is it fresh? If the rat was fresh, would this be as big a problem as everyone is saying?

Meanwhile the library is on my back to return the CD I borrowed, Charles-Valentin Alkan's Symphony for Solo Piano. And some book I supposedly borrowed, Ha! yu zhou wu di tang : cheng fa de mi mi.

Come on! I can't even read Chinese. Well, OK, I did borrow it. But only for the pictures. And only for Ruby.

I don't know what's going on. Sometimes I feel the world is against me, spearheaded by the glary lady at Ryde Public Library.

And Matilda came back from her overnight camp at the Blue Mountains, and has started to write a book about it.

Perhaps if I offered that to the library lady as a swap.

Iniquity

Always bad.

Propinquity

It helps get marriages started, and along with forgiveness it keeps them going.

So we really should spend more time at home.

A great party

My aunt and uncle had their 45th wedding anniversary the other day, so we headed up the M2 and had a lovely barbecue at cousin M's. Uncle and Aunt had been reading my book, Encouragement and were thinking of ways to get my non-christian dad to read it. Isn't that terrific? They felt sure he would get a good dose of the gospel if he actually decided to see what I'd said.

They had decided a 45th anniversary family lunch was a good idea, because Uncle D has Parkinson's and may not make it to the 50th. But they were full of joy as they looked forward to being united with Jesus in heaven, and full of thanks to God for their many happy years. Aunt J said, speaking of Uncle D, "The Lord always gives us the best".

They should've written the book on encouragement!

(This post for you, Rachel! :-) )

Write on, dude.

Following this editor's principle, things have been a bit quiet on the blog front lately:

Editor: "I like your novel except for the ending."
Writer: "What's wrong with the ending?"
Editor: "It should be closer to the beginning."
