Ruby and I

Ruby (middlest daughter, 7) and I went off this afternoon to see Tatiana Kolesova play the piano in Hunter's Hill. Kolesova was the winner of the People's Choice award at the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition. We had a lovely time. Ruby lasted until interval, and then we decided to go for a little walk around Hunter's Hill. It was fun to hear Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite arranged for piano by Mikhail Pletnev. Ruby had even heard it somewhere before. It is the most confected piece of confection the other side of Dancing Queen, and a good warm-up for the serious music Kolesova was going to play in the second half.

But now the whole family seems to be coming down with flu.

Hi Gordon. We're looking forward to seeing Tatiana in Bathurst on Thursday night. We are also hoping to see Konstantin Shamray if we can get to a venue that is not too far away from Bathurst during his tour.

We had a ball in Hunter's Hill at the town hall on 9th Aug, for Neta Maughan, our former piano teacher's 70th.

The performers were amazing, including Neta's daughter Tamara-Anna Cislowska, Simon Tedeschi, Kathryn Lambert and Reomi Mito.

Didn't she win the tennis at Beijing? Or was it the gymnastics? :)
