"[K]onsten förlorade sin livgivande betydelse i det ögonblick den skilde sig från kulten. Den skar av navelsträngen och lever ett egendomligt sterilt andrahandsliv, avlande och degenererande sig själv."
Ingmar Bergman, 1954

Any particular films you'd recommend,Ingmar Cheng?
The Seventh Seal is unforgettable. Wild Strawberries is fascinating from an autobiographical point of view, as well as worth seeing. There was that other one where the nurse was looking after a mute actress, which for better or for worse reminded me of my mother (a Swedish nurse).
None of his movies make the Swedes out to be particularly happy campers.
Nonsense, they're all incredibly enlightened people with a great sense of humour...
...except that bit about being the world headquarters for and Peak Phosphorus!
True story, leading campaigners for both causes reside in Sweden.
