The law of Moses—what use is it?

Shows us how far away from God we are, and points us to Christ. And it shows us how good God is, and what he wanted of Israel;and that is all that is certain in my mind, so far. And that is a lot of good stuff, and I think it is probably enough.

Isn't the law useful for increasing sin. And if that sin increases, then grace will increase all the more?

The increase of sin would, I think, be more like an undesirable consequence of law; one that is no less undesirable even if grace abounds.

I believe that the primary intention of law as far as humanity is concerned was to give life (Romans 7:10, following Deut 30: 15-20 and cf. Ps 119)
